Celebrating Last Season’s Highlights: Mission Racers Shine on the Ice!

As we gear up for the 2024/2025 season, let’s take a moment to celebrate the incredible achievements of our Mission Racers skaters from last year. It was a season filled with determination, skill, and unforgettable memories.

Two of our standout athletes, Nora and Samaira, represented the Fraser Valley Zone 3 Team at the BC Winter Games hosted in Quesnel, showcasing their talent and dedication on a provincial stage. Their journey didn’t stop there—they traveled to Ft. St. John for the BC Long Track Provincial Championships, where they continued to push their limits and make us proud.

Nora’s season was especially remarkable as she qualified for the Canada Youth Long Track Championships in Quebec City, Quebec, and Canada Short Track Championships in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Competing against some of the best young skaters in the country, Nora secured a bronze medal in the Team Pursuits event—a huge accomplishment that highlights her exceptional skill and commitment to the sport.

In addition to their long track successes, both Nora and Samaira competed in the BC Youth Short Track Championships. This event marked the end of an era for them as they aged out of the youth category. Next season, they will compete as Neo Juniors, ready to take on new challenges and continue their pursuit of excellence.

Our younger skaters also had a fantastic season, competing in regional Inter Club Meets. Mission had an impressive showing at the Sardis Interclub, with seven skaters proudly representing our club. They not only excelled in their races but also enjoyed cheering for one another, making friends from other clubs, and honing their racing strategies. Additionally, three of our racers, Samaira, Prabhnoor and Gurman, competed at the Richmond Olympic Oval for the Richmond Rockets Oval Challenge, showcasing their growing skills on a larger stage.

The excitement is building as we look forward to next season! Nora and Samaira will be stepping up as Neo Juniors, ready to take on new challenges and continue their journey at a higher level of competition. Additionally, several of our younger skaters will be old enough to compete at the provincial level, marking an important milestone in their speed skating careers. We can’t wait to see all our racers develop, compete, and shine on the ice. The Mission Racers Speed Skating Club is excited to support you in achieving your goals and making lasting memories. Here’s to another season of personal bests, team spirit, and a shared love for the sport!
