Mission Interclub 2024 Recap: Record Turnout and Community Support

Special thanks to Minh Tang, from PoCo Lightning Speed Skating for the incredible photos!

On November 3, the Mission Racers Speed Skating Club proudly hosted its annual Mission Interclub Meet at the Mission Leisure Centre. This event brought together 134 athletes from 11 clubs across British Columbia and even from the United States.

The day featured 99 races, and ran so smoothly time allowed for two exciting relay events to conclude the meet. This addition provided an extra opportunity for skaters to showcase their teamwork and speed, rounding off a dynamic day of competition.

Mission Racers were represented by 11 competitors, with nine of them racing for the first time. Their strong performances mark an encouraging start, and the club eagerly anticipates their continued development and success at future meets.

The Mission Interclub Meet would not have been possible without the 52 dedicated volunteers, and 14 coaches who coordinated efforts behind the scenes. We extend our sincere gratitude to Mission Superstore and Lighthouse Indian Kitchen for their generous food donations, which helped provide refreshments and lunch to fuel our volunteers throughout the day. This support, along with the enthusiasm of participants and families, truly exemplified the community spirit behind this successful event.

We look forward to welcoming our skaters, volunteers, and supporters back for another exciting Interclub Meet next year!
