On the Bell Lap: Mission Racers Wrap Up the Season

The Mission Racers Speed Skating Club has had an incredible start to 2025, with our skaters hitting the ice for their first competitions of the year! As we near the end of the season, our athletes have been pushing their limits, gaining valuable experience, and having a blast along the way.

Sardis Interclub – A Strong Start to the Year

Our first meet of 2025 was the Sardis Interclub, where a whole crew of Mission Racers took to the ice: Wyatt, Jaxon, Michael, Nora, Samaira, Evelyn, and William. It was a fantastic event filled with exciting races, personal bests, and great sportsmanship. The energy was high, and it was amazing to see so many of our skaters representing Mission!

Richmond Rockets Oval Challenge

Next up, Aishlin, Samaira, and Jaxon competed at the Richmond Rockets Oval Challenge. This was Aishlin’s first-ever competitive meet, and we are so proud of her accomplishments! All three skaters had a great time, gaining experience and confidence in their races.

Western Elite Circuit Challenge – Calgary

Nora took on an elite field at the Western Elite Circuit Challenge in Calgary, racing against some of the fastest skaters in Western Canada—and even competitors from Asia and Europe. It was an incredible opportunity to gain experience at a high level, and we’re so proud of how she represented Mission on the big stage!

Coyote Cup – Kamloops

Most recently, Nora, Samaira, Jaxon, and Audrey traveled to Kamloops for the Coyote Cup. This meet emphasized team achievements, making it a fun and unique competition. It was also Audrey’s first-ever competition, she did an amazing job! And a big thank you to Coach Keven for leading the Mission Team! The event wrapped up with exciting bucket races and awards, where our skaters had a fantastic showing:

– Jaxon – Silver
– Audrey – Bronze
– Nora – Bronze
– Samaira – Bronze

Looking Ahead…

With only Provincials in Prince George left in the season, we’re excited for one last big competition before wrapping up. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for our amazing skaters.

Way to go, Mission Racers!
